Update: Our House Future

On behalf of everyone at Our House - Wakefield, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of the wonderful people who made a donation, large or small, to help us continue providing a safe space for the LGBTQIA+ communities in Wakefield and beyond.

We’re over the moon to be able to tell you that, since we launched our crowdfunding campaign, we’ve received £8172 in donations. Not only does this mean that we’ve exceeded our original target, but it also means that we can share a very exciting update with you: Our House venue will open our doors again at the end of April 2024 (exact date tbc shortly!) Our community cafe, shop, and group space will all return, and we can’t wait to welcome you back into our new and improved space.

To everyone waiting for a reward from our crowdfunding campaign, something very special will be landing on your doormat by the beginning of May.

If you want to keep participating in our incredible journey, you still can! We are still looking for financial support to help us make some further changes to our new building to make it fully wheelchair accessible. So, if you (or anyone you know) would be able to make an additional contribution, we would love to hear from you. Equally, if you don’t have the means, every social media share, like, and message of support makes a massive difference to our work, so please keep spreading the word.

We are also opening our doors over the coming weeks to anyone who would like to volunteer to help us get ready for our opening day. On these days, we're getting stuck in with some basic DIY, painting, and cleaning. DIY days are as follows:

  • Thursday 4th April, 12-8pm

  • Sunday 7th April, 10-4pm

  • Thursday 11th April, 12-8pm

  • Saturday 13th April, 10-4pm

  • Thursday 18th April, 12-8pm

We can cover volunteer expenses for anyone helping out, including travel and meal costs. If you are interested in helping out, please email us to sign-up here.

Thank you so much, once again, for your ongoing support, and we look forward to seeing you all very shortly!

Louie Stafford,

Founder & Managing Director
